Bora Bora
See why the fabled “Pearl of the Pacific” deserves her reputation.
Bora Bora stretches the richest vocabulary to its limits when writers dare to try and describe the magic of this place. It has become a “must” island, almost as well known as Tahiti itself.

The fabled “Pearl of the Pacific” is simply captivating, with its towering, brooding mountain heart and crystal lagoon of the purest shimmering blues, greens and turquoises.

Bora Bora is its lagoon and no wonder that our biggest concentration of de luxe resorts vie for position beside it, in it and around it. You may well drive or cycle or take a circle island tour around the flat 18 miles of the coast road but you’ll probably spend most of your days gazing at the lagoon and playing in it.

Scenic arrival

The arrival at the airport of Bora Bora (a 45-minute flight from Tahiti) is an attraction in itself, its strip built on the reef Motu Mute by the USA in the Second World War. There follows a scenic crossing of the lagoon to your selected resort, off down the lagoon, wondering if you’ve fallen asleep and woken up in heaven, straight to check in at the resort of your choice.

There’s an abundance of things to do in and on the lagoon: swimming, diving, snorkelling, sailing, canoeing, parasailing as well as shark- and ray-watching and plunging into an enclosed area of the lagoon called the Lagoonarium to meet a whole range of its inhabitants at close hand (fish, reef shark, rays and turtles).

In Bora Bora, we can even organise an underwater wedding ceremony! What a rich accommodation choice! Many of the quality international and local chains are here and choosing your resort is a difficult call.
